The Aquarium of San Sebastián has improved its educational program for the 2005-2006 school year with new visits! Come and explore deeper in the sea knowledge!

Our Sea:
The objective of this visit is to show the fauna & flora of our sea. Depending on the route of the Aquarium.
Contents adapted to each school year. Max. 25 people for a guide. More than a group can begin at the same time. Availability should be requested.
Sharks: NEW!
Thanks to this visit and being aware of how interesting a shark can be, we are going to know better the sharks we have in our Cantabrian sea but also the tropical sharks. Through their description, reproduction, way of feeding, way of fishing. is going to be easier to get the information we need.
All of that is going to be real because of the four different types of sharks we have at the Aqarium: nursehound, catfish, dogfish and bull shark.

The game of the survival: NEW!
Thanks to this visit, we are going to examine the defence and attack techniques, so that we can work the mechanism of the fishes to keep on surviving in the sea.
Using the fishes we can observe at the AQ, we will see these techniques: mimicry, colouring, hiding or teeths, arms, claws, poisson.

The world of the invertebrates:
A global vision of the invertebrates will be presented; its classification (poríferos, celentéreos, equinodermos, moluscos, anélidos, artrópodos), the characteristics of the main species... The invertebrates we have at the Aquarium will be observed, as the new aquariums, which are included in our route.

The Aquarium´s secrets:
El objetivo es conocer las características del agua de mar y explicar y ver el recorrido que hace el agua desde el mar hasta los acuarios. Al mismo tiempo, el/ la alumn@ conocerá las diversas modificaciones que sufre el agua en ese recorrido. Durante la visita el/ la alumn@ podrá ver las zonas no accesibles a los visitantes generales: circulación del agua, tomas de mar, la zona del tanque y oceanario, los filtros y cuarentenas.

Our fishing: from the sea to the fishmonger´s:
On this visit the student will be able to know all the way from the moment that the fish has been captured until it arrives to the fishmonger´s. To describe this process, the guided visit will begin at the museum observing the history of the hunting of the whale of the 15 th century, the different fishing techniques and the main species, which are captured in our coast and the visit will continue with the visit to our fishmarket, so that we can learn their working rules.

After the visit, a documentary will be seen or a proyection comented through a magnifying glass about the microorganismus , like a kind of plankton, tiny eggs. When you book, the option will be choiced.
You just need to share with us your interests and we will design a personalized visit for you.
The monitor of the school centre will keep in touch with the educational department, so that the visit will be realized. An example could be a water analysis or to go on with laboratory techniques.
The number of people can change depending on the contents. More than one group will be booked at the same time. Availability should be requested.
An unbelievable experience staying during the night at the Aquarium. Some activities to know a little bit more about the sea environment are combinated with the experience of sleeping at the tunnel with our fishes.
2 monitors for each group.
Max. 15 people for each group. From 20:00 until 08:00.
The visits can be in Basque, Spanish, English, French and German.
The booking will has to be made a period before and talked with the Educational Department. They will inform about the different kind of visits and will help you which one can suits you.
