The Aquarium sponsors European Master in Marine Biology, together with Azti, the University of the Basque Country and the Southampton Oceanography Centre

1-10-2004

In September, Vicente Zaragüeta, president of the Donostia-San Sebastián Aquarium, announced the Aquarium's implementation of a new European Master's programme in Marine Biology or Marine Sciences in partnership with Azti, the University of the Basque Country and the Southampton Oceanography Centre.

The initiative, slated to commence in 2005, implies a serious commitment on the part of the Aquarium in terms of its educational focus. "We have created very important teaching modules with significant scientific and educational value, and not only on the regional level. Thanks to our partner the programme will have a global perspective," explained Zaragüeta, in reference to the organizations co-sponsoring the Master's programme offered in both the UK and Gipuzkoa starting next year.

"Incorporating the university in our foundation is a unique yet necessary experience and will allow us to move to the forefront of today's fast-paced scientific progress, " added Vicente Zaragüeta.
