Studying the secrets of the sea

The primary activity of the Donostia-San Sebastián Aquarium is to maintain and display the various tanks for the pubic's enjoyment and education, and to encourage a better understanding of marine life. Thus, the Aquarium focuses its efforts on improving the quality of life among the species that live here.

Projects:

Jellyfish: the dance of the Aurelia aurita.
Sea turtles: coming home.
The nursehound: small but fierce.
Seahorses: the mystery of paternity.

In addition to this line of work, the Aquarium has always been anxious to share knowledge and strengthen bonds with other scientific organizations and aquariums. The philosophy behind this way of thinking is to build on the experiences of other organizations and teams and thus promote the conservation of the marine environment.

The most noteworthy of our joint efforts are the projects carried out regularly with AZTI and with the La Rochelle Aquarium in France and the aquarium in La Coruña, Galicia.
